Dear members,
I have been trying to locate where Deskfoord George Charles was born in Kent. I can pick him up on the 1841 Census as being born in Kent about 1810 but after many tries cannot find him.
His parents are Deskfoord Charles and Elizabeth Simmons. They were married in 1806 at St. Mary's, Chatham.

Hi Steve
Free BMD have a death for Deskfoord George Charles March 1850 in Medway 5/276.
This may be why you can't find him on a latter census.
also listed is Deskfoord Charles who died 1847 again Medway 5/370.
It may be worth sending for the certificate to see who registered the deaths.

On the 1841 census a Rachel aged 19 and a George aged 25 are also listed in the family group. Any luck locating them as well? Suz

Just noticed that there is a Mary aged 50 listed but no Elizabeth so had she died by the time of the census and Deskfoord has remarried or it could be a siter of his???? ???

Just a note to save firther confusion
Deskfoord Charles and Elizabeth had a daughter Elizabeth Rachel 1810
on a previous post you have the daughter as Rachel Maria
Rachel Maria was the wife of Deskfoord George Charles -and is on 1841 census with him
she is a widow by 1851 and is with her family (briggs) and her son who is listed as George Charles -but was baptised as Deskfood George Charles - like his father

Deskford charles married Mary Ann Cunningham 1838 March in Gravesend district. On the 1851 census she is a widower living on a pension. No sign of any wills. Two public trees on an****y give conflicting information as usual ;D ;D

public tree on A****y has parents of Deskford Snr as Peter Charles and Janet Porteais. Desckford is given as born 1769 Cullen Banffshire. Which ties in with what you have found. There are a lot of trees on the site which appear to have copied the information given ;D

Just thinking about Deskfoord's first wife Elizabeth - wonder if she died in Scotland??
George frederick was born Glasgow -and it seems a possibility he was the son - then maybe Elisabeth died there??
I can't find any further info on Elizabeth Rachel b 1810 -daughter of Deskford and Elizabeth
(think Steve is a little confused on a previous thread of his - as there was a Rachel with them in 1841 - it is easy to assume she was a daughter -but she is the wife of Deskfoord George -so she is daughter in law -and she remarries after his death to john Baird
I cannot find a marriage/death reg for Elizabeth Rachel Charles ???

Again this is from a different public tree so no accounting for accuracy but they give Elizabeth Rachel as born 1811 Woolwich Kent. Baptised 31/11/1810(don't you just love the accuracy of online trees ;D ;D) Should someone tell them there is only 30 days in November and that you usually need to be born first before you are baptised. Anyway to carry on marriage to Joesph Mitchell 1828 Hoo Kent. died 1873 Kent.
It might help but I would take it all with a pinch of salt :D

I have recently found out from this site that Rachel Charles is the wife of Deskford Charles and not a sister.
Thank you for the birth/bapt dates for Deskfoord George Charles and Elizabeth Rachel Charles and other information.
I am the gggg grandson of Elizabeth Rachel Charles and Joseph Mitchell.
