Good afternoon...I am helping my colleague in his search for his grandfather,Alfred TS Boyer,born around 1906 in the Peterborough area.
We think that one of his middle names was Scotney and that his Dad was Horace Scotney Boyer born 1883 in New England,Northamptonshire.
Horace Scotney Boyer's parents were Thomas Boyer b.Polebrook,Northamptonshire circa.1842 mother was Charlotte Boyer b.Tallington,Lincolnshire
circa.1844
Has anyone got anything about Albert please?
He married Violet and he died in Oct-Dec. 1965 in Northampton.
Violet died Oct-Dec.1967 in Upper Agerigg

this is a long shot, but my brother is trying to put together a family tree, my pap[grandad] was Alfred Thomas Scotney Boyer, born 1906, lived in Peterborough, married Violet May, pap died 1965 and nan died 1967, we are trying to find out about Alfred s ancestors, could you help ?

Welcome to Rootschat but the original poster hasn't been online since Nov.2007.
Have you found your grandfather in 1911 census yet? We aren't allowed to do lookups for it but with the details from it (hopefully both parents will be in household) or from Alfred's birth certificate you might be able to trace the family back several generations.

I can not see a marriage on the Northants Marriage Indexes so
more than likely in next County.
It may be an idea to ask Alan Clarke on my link below posting
in case he can help you further.

Alfred's full name was actually Alfred Thomas Sidney (wrong, see later posting) Boyer - although in Peterborough a few years later he was actually born in India.
Familysearch shows:
Alfred Thomas Sidney Boyer b.4/9/1906, bp.30/9/1906 Murree, Bengal, India son of Walter and Charlotte Caroline.
Walter Boyer was born 1877 Gunthorpe, Northants. and was an older brother of Horace - Walter was in the Army.

Walter Boyer married Charlotte Caroline Jopling in the June qtr. 1903 at Peterborough district.
Charlotte Caroline Jopling was born 1873 in Bethnal Green, London - she was born 4/8/1873 and bp.24/8/1873 at Spitalfields Christ Church with St. Mary and St. Stephen, dau. of Alfred (cabinet maker) and Caroline of 190 Bethnal Green Road.

Correction - the 'S' in Alfred's name is indeed Scotney. Familysearch have it as Sidney but Walter Boyer's army pension records are on Ancestry and includes a list of children which includes Alfred Thomas Scotney! Dates concur with familysearch too - birth shown as 4/9/1906 and baptism 30/9/1906 at Murree is correct. (Two other children were also born in India).
Also show Walter's marriage to Charlotte took place 21/4/1903 at the Methodist Chapel, Peterborough.
I'd try to view the pension records if you can.

Hi again.
I seem to have found Alfred in Countess Rd Northampton in 1964.
I also looked at the records that would help CHRISB's query and
agree with Annette that he seems to be the son of Walter not Horace.
I also spotted Horace with his brother-in-law and it seemed that he
married Louisa Bass in Dec Qtr 1903 in the Peterborough R.D.
I did check some Peterborough Church records but ran out of time.
Maybe if Hambridge can confirm this we can help further.

Whoops forgot a bit.
As Walter was in Northampton as a child named Elsie was born
in the Town in 1914 it is possible he was also there when
Alfred T S Boyer married Violet M Clarke in 1925 although I do
not know where.
If the marriage was in a Parish Church will be able to find it.
