Title: Mary Taylor Gerrie
Post by: lawrenceb on Saturday 13 August 11 22:21 BST (UK)
I have a small amount of information on Mary Taylor Gerrie.  She was born 27/3/1860 to Peter Gerrie and his wife Jessie Adams in Aberdeen.  Has anyone seen a marriage to an Alexander Watson?

The marriage in 1883 at Kincardine(shire) is indexed at Scotlands People.

Mary Taylor Gerrie was my maternal Great Grandmother and she married my Great Grandfather Alexander Watson at Invercannie, Banchory Ternan on 16 November 1883.   At that time he was a Wood Turner at Invercannie Water Works, near Banchory.
I have more information re my family tree if you are interested. Would love to hear from you.

Hi
I also have an ancestor called Mary Gerrie. She was born in Fyvie in 1840, she was my great Grandmother and married James Davidson, my Grandfather.
My Grandfather was Lewis Gerrie Davidson born in Millbrex, Fyvie and my Father was James Lewis Gerrie Davidson.
Mary Gerrie's parents were Lewis Gerrie and Jane Mathieson from Tarves.
Is there any connection ?
Thanks
Lynellen

Hello Lynellen

Thank you for getting in touch.

I am sorry to say that we do not appear to share the same ancestor.

My maternal Gt Grandmother, Mary Taylor Gerrie was born on 27 March 1860 in 27 Spring Garden, Aberdeen.
Her father was Peter Gerrie born 1824 - married Jessie Adams 12 December 1857 in North Silver Street., Aberdeen.

Peter Gerrie's parents were James Gerrie and Helen Munro - married 9 June 1824 in Aberdeen North Church.

Good luck in your research!

Hi Trustach
Thanks for getting back to me, you're right, it does not look as if this generation has any links. I guess if we went back far enough we would find one.

The Gerrie's I have are:

Mary Gerrie b, fyvie 1840 m. James Davidson Fyvie 1869
Her parents were Lewis Gerrie and Jane Jamieson I think from Tarves
After that it gets very hazy. Lewis Gerrie's Father maybe Forbes Herrygerry (not sure about the spelling) from Old Meldrum.

Good luck with your research too
