I have been able to trace the family quite easily through the census years but after 1881 I cannot find them and would appreciate some help please.
12 St Peters Street, Carmarthen
1881 RG11/5397 F50 P15
Eliza Davies/h/wid/49 Dressmaker Carmarthen
Celina Jane Davies/dau/20/ " All children born St Peters Carmarthen
Margaret Davies//dau/15 Dressmaker.
Eliza Ann Davies/dau/11 Scholar
Sarah Davies /dau/4 " "
As Eliza was a Widow on the 1871 not sure who's daughter this is.
Two of her other children from previous census years: John Davies 1864 and Thomas Jones Davies 1852 I have found in Ystrad/Ystradyfodwg Glamorgan up to 1911.

By 1891 - the 3 older girls could be married - have you checked for marriages for them
Any re-marriage or death for Eliza 1881-1891?
Celina or Selina?
-
HI CaroleW.
Two of use have spent days trying to work out if Eliza died, when/did the girls marry etc............difficult with their Christian names and surname like Davies.
I would have thought that young Sarah would have been living with a sister if her mum had died as she would still only have been 14 by 1891.......although old enough to work.
Doesn't appear to be any Parish records for Carmarthen marriages on -line...I was hoping I had missed something. :-\
Some spellings on census Celina, others Selina, birth cert Selina

Hello :)
Not sure whether this is a possibility, but I found a marriage in 1886 of Selina Jane Davies and Francis Coleman
Highworth volume 5a page 13
and in 1891 at 35 Regent St, Swindon
Francis S Coleman age 29 born Taunton Law Solicitor Clerk
Selina Coleman age 29 born Carmarthen Dress Milliner
Blanche M Coleman age 8 Scholar born Cornwall
Florence M Coleman age 7 Scholar born Swindon
Margaret A Davies Boarder age 13 born Carmarthen Dress Milliner's assistant

Many thanks Morganllan :),
That sounds interesting, ;D I will trace the young Margaret Davies back to see if there is a connection.

Hi Morganllan,
Many thanks for your help :D, you were spot on with that marriage .
I have found the Will of Selina's brother John Davies, Probate granted to Francis Stook Coleman, the husband of Selina.
Going on further it looks like one of Selina and Francis's daughters married her cousin, the child of her brother John Davies, a Printer.

Glad to be of assistance :D
I'm not sure of the age of Margaret A Davies in 1891. It's transcribed as age 3 but it could be 13 or even 23 on the image - check it for yourself. Perhaps it's Selina's sister? :-\
I also found in 1891 an Elizabeth Davies, boarder, age 62 at 6 Shaw's Lane, Carmarthen No occupation.

but it's a common name and so nothing to prove this either way.

Just found that Francis Stook Coleman was Mayor of Swindon in 1906!
Picture of him on here:

Hi Morganllan,
Many thanks for your interest.....snap I found that photograph also :)
I found two possible Baptisms for her children last night on the Family Search site, had to plough through years and years of census returns as nothing to click on for Baptisms. Of course it could always be for another person : Margaret Ann Davies 25/10/1867 Eliza Ann Davies 13/10/1869.
I will go look at that census return you have found.......these Davies are driving me mad :-\
Thanks,

Hi Ambers :)
Found an LDS submitted record for Selina Davies that gives birth date of 26th Sept 1861 at Carmarthen, and date of death as 2nd April 1940 at Swindon.
However, Carmarthen births show a Selina Jane Davies born 1859 (June Q)
Carmarthen 11a 628
Kind Regards

I have her birth certificate 22/08/1859 at Dame Street, Carmarthen.
Death from An***try 1940, but age isn't right at 78, maybe that's where the submitter took their details from.

Hi Morganllan :D
I think you have spotted something there :D, I had taken that Margaret Ann Davies age to be 13 but now see it is possibly 23 which fits in with the one I am looking for....maybe I should be looking in Wiltshire for her marriage ;)
That Elizabeth is also interesting as I can see a lot of Jones surnames close by (her maiden name).................lots more work to do with trying to connect one of them to her.
Many thanks,
Ambers
For My Future Ref: ???
Am I supposed to put **** when mentioning that site? I didn't type them in.

Hi Ambers, I am a descendant of Emma Davies nee Jones b. abt 1839 Glamorgan. d. 18.1.1921. She was married to an Evan Davies b. abt 1837. d. 9.7.1877. If this sounds like the same Emma as you have I would love to hear from you as I am stuck with their ancestors in Wales. All I have is I think Emma's Father was James Jones and Evan's parents were Morgan & Jane Davies. A Walter Davies was a witness at their wedding on 12.3.1860 in Monmouth, Wales
Cheers.
