Post by: Sikes on Wednesday 21 September 11 13:01 BST (UK)
Does anyone know if there are any employment records for these mines?

Just a thought, there is a Heritage Museum located in Senghenydd Community Centre who have quite a bit of memorabilia, they may be able to help, details below

Don't know about employment records but a very good site for info on mines is www.welshcoalmines.co.uk and you'll see links. there is one for Universal Colliery which gives a lot of info [ the worst mining disaster in GB was in this colliery in 1913 when 439 men and boys lost their lives].

There is also one that gives names of collieries and  dates of mining disasters, it also gives the names of men who were killed when there was 5 or more involved.

Thanks both, I'll have to look into those.
