Hi Julia.

Stirling Archives Dept. might be your best bet.

Would you care to tell us what it is that you are looking for.

Cheers.

Hi Fergie,

I would like to see if there were obituaries for

John Stevenson , my ggrandfather who died first . Husband of Madeline he died on 1 november 1893 aged 68.. He had been in the 92nd Highlanders

Quartermaster Robert Campbell Stevenson ,aged 37 , my grandfather's half brother who died of consumption [which I think is acute phthisis] on 23 January {my birthdate] in Stirling. He according to Scotlands People was married to Isabella Summers but I can't find a marriage or census data or children

Archibald Inglis Lockhart Stevenson who was married to Catherine Bain McGregor on 28 December 1898 in Stirling. He was the manager of The Golden Lion Hotel . He died November 4 1916

William Melville Stevenson who died in Deelfontein , South Africa in the Boer War on 17 April 1902 He is buried in the churchyard of the Holy Rude , Stirling with family
He was married to Marguerette Highman Gunning More on 27 November 1899  but i have not been able to find anything about her other she was born in England and like William was 29 years old in the !901 . They had a child according to Scotlands People Madeline Anna born 8 June 1901. What happened to  both Madeline Anna and her mother?

My own grandfather's obituary Walter Christie Stevenson who died on 31 October 1914 in Ypres married to Grace Marshall with 3 children Madeline, Helen and John

Finally there was their mother Madeline Jane [ born Magdalene Christie}who I'm told died in the 1920s . How sad to outlive all your children!

Not aware of papers on-line for this period, but copies will be held at Stirling Libraries and/ or Stirling Archives. There is a people index for the Stirling Observer Annuals (from 1911) available as excel file here

http://www.stirling.gov.uk/services/community-life-and-leisure/libraries-and-archives/libraries-local-and-special-collections/libraries-local-history-and-heritage

This shows there was obituary for Archie Stevenson, Golden Lion Proprietor (1916, page 27) and Walter C Stevenson is listed under 'Men who have given their lives' in the 1916 edition (page 29).
