Can anyone help me locate further details on the 1872 marriage in Ballina, Mayo of Henrietta Louisa Atkinson, d/o Thomas Atkinson.
The marriage reference I have does not list her husband's name, making post-1872 tracing of Henrietta rather difficult.
Many thanks
Whitey ;D

You have to order a cert to find the full details - the BMD index on FamilySearch contains the references you need. i.e. year or year/quarter, registration district, volume number and page number.
Name: Henrietta Louisa Atkinson
Registration district: Ballina
Event type: Marriage
Year: 1872
Volume : 9 / Page: 1
see : Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,433040.0.html)
Details included on a Marriage Cert (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,433042.0.html)

The Irish 1901 Census :
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
shows Edward E ATKINSON in Francis St, Ballina with his wife * Hanriette and a 27 yr old son, Edward F.
* probably Harriette Marion E F Atkinson?

Thanks Ambly
That helps me narrow the list of possible husbands down a bit - Harriette Marion E F Atkinson was Henrietta's sister. She married Edward Eastwood Atkinson in 1872 and Edward Francis was born in 1873.
All just bricks in the wall ....

Ahaaa!!!
In 1872, Henrietta Atkinson b. abt1847 married Aelian Armstrong King b. abt1842. Mr King was part of the Ceylon Civil Service. They had a daughter Lucy King, b. 19Feb1873, Galle, Southern, Ceylon.
Thanks Ambly ... that's an important link for me as it establishes a definitive link to Ceylon. Much appreciated.

She and her sister Harriette married together on the 25th May 1872. The witnesses are the same on both marriage records.
