Title: Southill, Baptism Gilman
Post by: TangoDancer on Friday 18 May 12 21:37 BST (UK)
I would really appreciate a look-up for the baptism of Joseph Gilman or Gillman as I have several conflicting dates.

These are:  4th and 7th December 1703, with William Gilman being shown as the father both times.

Another possibility is 7th October 1703, again with William being the father.

These various dates must be down to transcription errors unless there were a lot of William Gilman's in Southill, all having sons very close together. :)

the baptism on the 4th dec 1703 is only a submitted entry the one on the 7th dec with parents william/susannah is an extracted entry so this would be the one i would place more faith in
i cannot see the one for 7th oct 1703?

Southill parish register transcript shows just the one on 7 Dec 1703. No other detail.

Member submissions on the IGI are very unreliable, as you've just found out! They're not transcription errors; just sloppy research by LDS church members

Thank you for the clarification.  I knew they couldn't all be right!

Thanks too, wozzle for the additional siblings.
