Thank you so much. An awful lot of info. Very, very interesting.

It gives me more info in tracing them before the first census.

Regards,

Mark.

Isn't he likely to be the James, son of William & Elizabeth, baptised at Biggleswade on 26 Jan 1798, born 25 July 1796? William was a glover (per transcript)

I wonder if James and Ann might have married late - there's a marriage in Biggleswade on 28 Nov 1833 with Ann Hayes, whose mother appears to have been Alice. Alice - Alethea??

I wonder also if James Larkin son of James and Ann baptised at Sutton in 1817 is the same family. I can't see any other Larkins in Sutton, and there's a burial of James Larkins age 21 on 2 Jan 1837 in Biggleswade.

Hi there David,

Yes, that sounds very good as my 'girl' is Alithea Bp 25 Jan 1815 at Biggleswade to a James/Ann Larkins.

Alithea, daughter of James/Ann (so that name ties in with Ann's mother) went on to marry Job Brown in Sutton in 1836.

I noticed the bap of a James in Sutton, 8 June 1817 and wondered if there was a connection.

Do you think that they had Alithea and James and just married later? Is James Snr recorded as a Bachelor/Widower in the marriage records?

I need to look over all of the info that has been generously submitted. I just need to find the time...........!!!!!

Regards,

Mark.

You've got it wrong Mark. You do the genealogy, then you find time to do all the other less important things (like cleaning the house as one's got a visitor arriving from East Midlands on Sunday!)

You'd need to check Biggleswade microfilm for James' marital status on marriage - either he had two wives named Ann, the burial of the first I can't find, or else he married after they had one or two children - again you need to check the microfilms to see if there's any further detail in the baptism entries

Thank you David.

I have taken your advice re finding the time and have come up with the following.

Ann Hayes born 11 Oct 1800, bap 6 Nov 1800, daughter of William/Alice Hayes. Possible match with the marriage of Wm Hayes and Alice Giddins(Widow) Biggleswade, 22 Jan 1793. No previous marriage for Alice Giddins found.

James Larkins, son of Wm/Eliz Larkins. I have a marriage of Wm Larkins and Eliz Barker (widow) 16 Aug 1792, Biggleswade. Marriage of Eliz Breed and Rob Barker 19 Oct 1783 Biggleswade. Burial of Rob Barker, 25 June 1791.

Eliz Breed, daughter of Petit Breed (beautiful name) and Mary Smith. Married 29 Oct 1754, Biggleswade.

William Larkins MAY be the son of J Larkins victualler - Catharine wheel, Biggleswade, who is mentioned in the Universal British Directory, Biggleswade, 1791. There are three Larkins listed. George, Blacksmith, Charles, Glover and J, Victualler........but I need more time to investigate this !!!!!!!

Regards,

Mark.

Sorry, I forgot to add that there there is a listing of a birth for Mary Giddings 9 Dec 1792 Biggleswade. Parents listed as Alice Giddings but not sure if there is any connection.

I've found a private FT that states that William is the son of George Larkins (Blacksmith)and Elizabeth Daniel. I just cannot prove it myself at the moment.

They had a son, William, bap 28 Feb 1760 Biggleswade. He was buried the same day as his brother, Ismael, 6 March 1760.

Their second 'William' was bap 5 April 1761, Northill.

Perhaps 'my man', perhaps not.

This much I do know. It's just the rest that I have a problem with .....!!!!!
