Title: Victoria Street Aberdare
Post by: Daiwalker on Monday 11 June 12 15:29 BST (UK)
Hi guys I'm trying to locate 7, Victoria Street, Aberdare but can only find Victoria Square. Is this the same place or has the name changed. My 2ND great grandfather, John Parker resided here according to the 1871 census.

The census of 1871 states the address is in the hamlet of Cefnpennar.

When I google this I get  7 Vistoria St Mountain Ash. I dont know if this is the same address as you are looking for.

I  am not local to the area & dont know the area. Perhaps another rootschatter can shed some light on this

Regards

Diane

as Diane posted 1871 there is Elizabeth Parker W 51 Pembroke, son John 11 Glamorgan, son Josepph 8  plus 2 lodgers were living at Victoria St Cefnpennar
Civil parish of Aberdare reg district Merthyr Tydfil, subdistrict Aberdare
RG10 5411 41 25

If this is your john Parker then he was living in the Hamlet of Cefnpennar - which was about 1mile from the centre of Mountain Ash  - present day the address would be known as Mountain Ash - there was-maybe still is a pub called the Cefnpennar Inn Mountain Ash.
Mountain Ash had a colliery at one time - later British Coal had workshops there
I worked in that area 1970/80's
Mountain Ash is 3 or 4 miles from Aberdare

Hope this helps
