Hi
With the mother's demise I wonder if the family stayed together; can someone please do a look-up on the 1861 for them?
Regards, Roy

In 1861 @ 1, Heolaithey, St Brides Minor are Walter Howells (sic) 29, sister Mary 45, both unmarried and Gwenllian 7, brothers daughter. Note discrepancy in age of Walter. He is younger than in 1851!

Richard Howells (42) @ Pencoed, Heolaithey, St Brides Minor with wife Margaret, 39, b Llanfyfodwg and children Elizabeth, 2 and Daniel 3 weeks

Hi jrc
Thanks very much, that's a great help and its much appreciated. Just noticed an error with the recording of Walter's age. On the 1841 he is listed as 8 years old and 1851 aged 30, obviously finger trouble as he should have been about 18 years in 1851. That would make your 1861 age of 29 more resonable.
Cheers, Roy
