Hello everyone,
I am trying to find the marriage and family of Richard E. Tunnicliffe. I think he was born in 1886 in Liverpool, Lancashire and married a "Mabel".
I think he died in South Africa.
Any help would be very very much appreciated!

There's a marriage on FreeBMD Sept Qtr 1930 in West Ham to a Mabel H KINSEY.
Kind of late and out of the area, though!

Hello, Richard Tunnicliffe was my grand uncle. I never knew him but I knew auntie Mabel when I was younger. Richard was in the merchant navy. During WW1 he was in the Royal Artillery, in WW2 he was in the Merchant Navy where he died at sea in 1941. He is buried in Stellawood cemetery, Durban, South Africa.
Richard and Mabel didn't have any children.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your reply.
Do you by any chance have an Elizabeth Tunnicliffe in your family who was married near Durban, South Africa and died there in 1888?
I was hoping maybe she and Richard were somehow connected......

Hello Erica,
I'm afraid I haven't an Elizabeth Tunnicliffe in the family tree. Richard is buried out there because he was killed at sea in 1941. No other family are out there. Not sure of the circumstances of his death but he was aboard SS Sumatra as a 'barman'.
Best regards,
Steve.
