What kind of info are you looking for?
Whereabouts in Wales was he born?
Who did he marry?
Do you have him on any census so we don't duplicate info?
-
:) in the 1891 census he was a wool weaver age 70years living at Carerbout i think he was born carmerthenshire he may have been married twice, hr had a son david. henry death 1898 swansea.

Have you looked for him in the 1881 census
-
in the 1891 census he was a wool weaver age 70years living at Carerbout
Sorry - I can't find an 1891 entry with that birthyear - 1821
Can you post full 1891 details please
The death in 1898 shows birthyear 1816
-
Are you sure the 1898 death is his? There is an 1891 entry for a Henry Simons aged 74 b Llandillo Carmarthen but his occ is not wool weaver - it's shown as living on his own means
That Henry fits the profile for the 1898 death
-
This looks like a reasonable possibility for census data:-
1891 4470 106 15
1881 5351 8 13
1871 5444 2 1
1861 4096 12 4
and possibly,
1851 2465 107 13
(this entry is for Symons,a labourer, but the last person listed is given as a labourers weaver)
Haven't found a reasonable 1841 candidate.
Regards
Roger

That is the entry I am referring to above - neither his birthyear nor his occ match the profile given by Enid for the 1891 entry. He was not living in Carebout?? - he was living in Tyr Bont Cadley - Penderry Glamorgan
-
In 1891 his age is a little out,but he doesn't strictly have an occupation,he is now "living on his own means".
His address throughout in this set just looks like transcription variants on the same address, and obviously very similar to "Carebout"
1891 Tyrbont Cadley,Penderry
(He is with his son from the 1851 census)
1881 Carbont LLangyfelach,Penderry Lower
1871 Carbont,Teer Pont Calley,Llangyfelach
1861 Caerbont,Llangyfelach
1851 Caerbont,Penderry

Hmmm... not my line but perhaps I can give a bit of background.
My Simons line arrived in the Llanelli area very early C19, but from Chester-le-Street and of Buckinghamshire origin. There is still a bit of untangling to do on them, but I think I've identified everyone of that family. The first man in that line was William Vazie Simons who was a coal owner and coal merchant in Twmbl, Trimsaran and Llanelli, perhaps elsewhere, died 1843.
Other Simons/Symons lines seem to be of Cornish origin - the mining connection. I suspect there is also, perhaps later in the C19, a Jewish Eastern European immigration also with the Simons surname. There may be other lines too....

I have Symonds in my tree. So far so good ..... but I have also found it spelt with an 'i' instead of a 'y', one 'm' or 2, 'd'or no 'd' , 's' or no 's' on the end and any permutation possible :D
Think my branch originated in Herefordshire/Monmouthshire area - they are not direct ancestors
Certainly makes makes life difficult when trying to research.
