Is anybody researching the Kaines families of Guernsey?
I've got a Richard Kaines 1804 born England, who became a pawnbroker in Guernsey, married to Elizabeth, children Selina c1839 and Henry c1845.
Richard died Nov 1889 aged 86 yrs.
Any help would be appreciated
Regards

Familysearch.org shows this family
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KDD5-W56
Also there is a family tree on Ancestry that show a "Betsy" Kaines. Might be worth a look

Wife is shown as Betsey on the 1851 census
Selina possibly married Henry A Foard between 1871-1881 but you would need to check that out

He may be the 1881 entry indexed as Raines aged 77 but wife is Patty aged 57 b Sark whereas Elizabeth in 1871 was 64 b Guernsey

The original post was a long time ago, but I'm searching the Kaines family tree and have lots of information/pictures that would be of interest to anyone also searching.
I do have a huge question mark about one of the branches in my tree that I'd like to sort out so anyone else with a Kaines tree, please contact me.
Thank you - Lynne

I have just seen your page. I have a Kaines in my family tree - Louisa Kaines married William Heal in 1867. She was my great grandmother's step-mother. Don't know if she is related to your family, but you mentioned a "gap" in your tree and as they came out to New Zealand I wondered if this could be what you are looking for.
Cheers.

Hello,
Thank you for your message. I checked, I do have Louisa Kaines married to William Heal in my tree.....but not in the way that you'd think. I'm going to try and explain.
The Kaines family are related to my maternal grandfather's side of the family. However, Louisa appears on my maternal grandmother's side of the family:
William and Louisas daughter Alice Heal married James Smith I have a DNA connection with his great granddaughter "S Ayson" who would be my 6th cousin.
As far as I can tell I have no relation to Louisa Kaines who is from the Somerset Kaines' whilst my grandfathers family descended from the Dorset Kaines family. How very strange though that there would be a connection anyway.
Thank you for getting in touch, that was very kind of you to take the time.

Family trees are so complicated some times! However it does make for interesting research. I am now trying to find information about William Heal's first wife, Elizabeth and in particular where her parents came from, so some happy hunting coming up.
All the best for your searches.
