Title: Please date & improve this photo
Post by: Yasmina4 on Wednesday 27 February 13 11:54 GMT (UK)
This photo seems to have been spotted by age. Is it possible for someone kindly to tidy it up please.  I have received it by email.

It is obviously first world war but do the soft hats a couple of the men are wearing indicate more towards 1917/1918 or perhaps the Bridegroom has jut come home after the War?

Many thanks for looking Sandra

Yes WWII but I'd think early rather than late. Fashions didn't change too much during the war but there still some classic Edwardian outfits in this photo which had pretty much disappeared by the end....ditto a suffragette suit. The hats also have a delicate Edwardian look to them.

Well, my opinion but you may get others :)

Cheers,
China

Tony, Thank you so much for the fresh photos .  Really great.

Is the Suffragette the  one with her hair piled high and smart dress in the back row? Or the one with the rather masculine touch to her outfit again in the back row.I think it ran in the family!   One of the old dears(my great gran) in the photo showed signs of bucking the trend when she filled in the 1870 census.

Thank you both very much.  Sandra

::)   Sorry   of course it was World War I.   Forgive me, the excitement lead to the mistake!

Its the first time the present family have been able to acquaint themselves  with images of this side of our family.

Thanks again for another improvement of the photo , Tommy. Your effort is much appreciated.

It's me Jim's taking the mickey at, Sandra...new keyboard with much more sensitive keys :P

The lady in the suffragette suit is the third from left in the front row. It was a fashion that came out in 1910 and wearing one was not necessarily a political statement...just a fashion :)

Cheers,
China

The "Suffragette" lady looks formidable!

Need now to work out if the bridegroom was a blood relative or it was his wife.   The family on the right look a gentler lot.

However, I gather our great grandmother was a force to be reckoned with.

It will be easier if I find the bridegroom is an ancestor.  One assumes one can find a military record and work from there.  Hopefully it will lead to next of kin name etc.
