Title: Understanding WW1 Medal Rolls

Frank Ross is my Great Grandfather: WW1 Medal card.
Please can someone help this novice at understanding this document!!?

The box on the top right says he joined the Nigeria Regiment, as a Doctor.
But then transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corp., with the rank of Captain.

The "Theatre of War" says 4C - 4 meaning Africa, C meaning Cameroon.

He was entitled to the Victory Medal, the British Medal, and the 1915 Star.
The references are to the Rolls kept at The War Office.

Resumed civil duties? Did he live in Africa and medals issued in 1929
He may have a file at kew but won't be online,

I know he spent time in africa through postcards ,  but not sure if he lived there ,
post cards say: on Active Service.

do you know how i could contact kew? would like to find if there any info on him .  I have tried Ancestry but cant find anything.

Some 60%-70% of WW1 service records were lost in a bombing raid in WW2!

If Ancestry doesn't show the records, then they are probably lost. :(

He's an officer so some of their records are in kew and weren't burned they aren't viewable online though.

There are no surviving service records of temporary officers in the RAMC - they are believed to have been destroyed in the 1930s.
