Title: Help with a broach
Post by: Patricia Greber on Thursday 21 March 13 04:37 GMT (UK)
For some reason I am having a hard time posting the photo of the broach I have some questions about. If you could possibly take the time to visit this page where I have posted the photo I would be grateful!

Thank you for your time!

Hi treesrch :)

First off can I say that I am absolutely not an expert!

You probably need to take the brooch to an antique jewellery dealer to be certain, but to me it looks like it's made of a copper alloy metal with enamel colouring on the front and presumably glass/paste "diamonds"...don't think it's as early as 1818 but it's just a hunch.  I'd go more for the early 20th century, maybe 1920s or 30s.

Hi T/S thats a real nice little brooch and I do hope you have the missing gem.{diamond}and love the thistle really nice, I think its made of brass,if it had been a ring I would have suggested wearing it for a few days and if your finger underneath it had started turning green then we would be sure it was  brass  :) I too think it's very early 1900s,was hoping the clasp may have been a clue to how old it may be .

Thank you so much for your replies! And sorry about my spelling!  :o
I appreciate you taking the time to try and date it for me, it gives me a general idea about who it may have belonged to.
