The IGI extracted has a marriage at Meppershall on 26 Nov 1779 between Simon LUCAS and Martha PARROTT. Simon wasn't from Meppershall, and Martha may not have been either. If anyone has access to the transcript I'd be very grateful for a lookup to see if parishes of residence other than Meppershall were given. Hitchin would be very acceptable!

Marriage 26 Nov 1779 Simon Lucas, a minor to Martha Parrott, a minor, with consent of guardians by Licence. No mention of residences........
.... however the licence transcript has the following :-
Dated 25 Nov 1779; Simon Lucas, butcher of Meppershall, minor to Martha PERROT of Meppershall, daughter of Martha, minor. Martha Parrot, widow gave surety for her.
As to Simon he had 3 people giving surety. Thomas Hare, butcher of Shefford. Edward Lyle, guardian of Simon Lucas. Henry Kimpton, guardian of Simon Lucas.
Do these guardians have family connection to Simon ?

Excellent, many thanks John. The detail from the licence gives me something to work on. The Simon I'm looking at in Hitchin was baptised in 1760 so would have been a minor in 1779. Must now check out his father and see if he died before 1779 and whether he left a will.
