Hello Geoff,
thank you for the quick reply, I have already got a copy of her marriage, but thank you all the same. It is the Doughty family that we know nothing about and would love to get some help.
regards Trish.

If you search on Familysearch.org (it's free), you'll see the following dozens of choices for Mary Doughtys born around 1786

Then you'll have to try linking where the baptisms of all these girls took place with where your Mary Doughty married, and also check the names of any children Mary and her husband had who might have been named after any of the parents listed.

Good luck
Lizzie

ps.  There's one who was baptised in Benington which is only 4 miles from Wrangle.  The baptism date was 11 June 1783, parents Wm Doughty and Mary.  The date is slightly earlier than you thought but it might be worth checking out.

Presumably, this info is from 1841 census ... where was she living at that time?

Hello Geoff.
yes I got Mary's d.o.b. on the 1941 census. She was living in Boston (I think Jesters Ford) with three of her children, Eliza, Henry and Caroline. It says she is 55 so estimated yob is 1786.

In the 1841 census, "age 55" ought to mean someone who had turned 55 but was not yet turned 60, so could actually have been born as early as 1781.

There was a burial at Boston 26 March 1860 aged 78 (2nd on right) http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=551755&iid=66120 but I'm afraid I can't with any certainty see this lady in 1851. :(

Geoff - there were other Mary Sharps of a similar age living in Boston in 1841, so it could be that the death you found is one of them.

The other deaths of Mary Sharps in Boston:
Oct-Dec 1846
Apr-June 1852
Oct-Dec 1854
Oct-Dec 1856
Oct-Dec 1857

plus the 1860 one you found and other later ones.

I suppose the only sure way of finding out which Mary is the correct one is to get a death certificate and hope that the informant is one of her children,  It would be a good idea to search Lincstothepast to find burials relating to the above deaths to rule out any which are totally the wrong age.

There other deaths of Mary Sharps in Boston:
Oct-Dec 1846 aged 1 at Butterwick
Apr-June 1852 aged 17 at Freiston
Oct-Dec 1854 not sure
Oct-Dec 1856 aged 81 at Swineshead
Oct-Dec 1857 perhaps aged 46 at Fishtoft

plus the 1860 one you found (at Boston) and other later ones.

Geoff - I presume you have access to Lincolnshire BMDs so that you don't have to search through Lincstothepast until you find the correct one.  How far back do your records go?
