I recently enquired about Water Gypsies, or bargees, where would I put this request please Bob
The names I have associated with Bargees and water gypsies are as follows
Tindall and variation
Mison, Myson/ Mizon/Myzon
Halford
Holford
Many of the females in these families had their own barges from as young as 16 running the Grand Union canal from Paddington to Yiewsley where some of their children were baptised, in the main they brought the children back to Paddington to be either baptised or married.
My grandmother Harriett Tindall was born at 20 Dudley Street which I understand is quite near to Paddington Basin, I was always led to believe she was born on a barge
Any help much appreciated

Depends on whether you see them more as "Travellers" or "Watermen".
If that is a really difficult decision, then - it's more work, but - why not add them to both lists ?
(There is a "Bargees" sub-group for watermen and I can add "water gypsys" to the list of sub-groups for Travellers)

Albert E Jones married a Violet M Hallford @ Uxbridge in 1941 .
Albert was a boatman .
Could some of your Hallfords from Brentford have been Barge men on the Thames as i have some baptism records indicating a Brentford address the fathers occupation s are listed as Bargemen or Watermen if they where on the Thames that would explain the wide boats. the only one that gives occupation as Boatman is a Cathrine daughter to George & Eliza address is given as E Smiths barge( Emannuell or known as Manny Smith)
