Hi all,
Can anyone please help me out with a birth or baptism for a Florence Edmonds in Alvescot about 1876
possibly with parents Thomas & Harriett.
I have found two possible births on FreeREG - one in Witney Regs Dist in 1873 and another in Faringdon Dist in 1878 which covers Alvescot and is the most likely parish
When Florence married in 1907 Little Coxwell she was aged 31 and two census records reveal it was
in Alvescott where she was born.
Any help much appreciated.

I assume you have the 1881 census? (That seems to indicate Alverscot is in Witney reg district)
Parents seem to be ThomasHenry and Harriett, as you thought possible.

Hi Lizdb,
Many thanks for your help.
I have to admit the 1875 birth regis. looks the the more likely place.
Hopefully someone with the transcripts will be able to confirm a baptism.

Hi Lizdb,
I did have the 1871 census but not the 1861 record so many thanks for that.
I've also now got the 1841 & 51,81,91,1901 so a "full house"
Harriet dies in 1908.
Like you I couldn't resist looking up the others.

Hi Nigel,
Thanks mate, thats just what I wanted re Florence Edmonds.
1/. If I could get Thomas Henry Edmonds marriage to Harriet that would be great.
2/. Also in Alvescot - Thomas Henry's parents were also married in Alvescot I believe 24-9-1836
(Henry Edmonds to Cathereine G....??)
3/. and If I can push my luck - Henry was bapt there about 1814 s/o John & Mary.
4/. John Edmonds married Mary (S/H)ambridge 1801 Alvescot and John being bapt. there about 1775 and buried about 1853 so to was Mary about 1770.
5/. John's parents were I believe Henry Edmonds & Betty Harding married about 1767 Alvescot.
6/. Henry Edmonds married Rachel Lock 1741 and both may have been bapt. there about 1710/1720
both being buried about 1771 and 1775.
Phew I think I'll leave that for now.Looking forward to your findings with great interest.
PS. In case your wondering where I got this info from its from A...y but not confirmed for any entries

Hi Nigel,
What a tremendous amount of entries - thank you most kindly.
Having got the entry for Florence I think I had better close this thread and start a fresh one.
You deserve a drink.
Keep a look out for the next request!!
Alan
PS. in doing my reply I see your other responses came thru under cover - again many thanks
-
Hi Nigel,
I think there is a bit of a conflict in Harriet Haynes parentage.
In my other request here; http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=661619.20
you mentioned that Harriett was the d/o John Haynes & Mary (nee Beal)
In these searches you list Harriett as the d/o William, a baker. I think there must be another Harriet Haynes as the one i'm after was born in Hailey , bapt. 1841 in Hook Norton
Also is it Caroline or Catherine Griffiths who married Henry Edmonds in 1836?
The census records say Catherine.
Any chance of a recheck when convenient.
Cheers for all your good work.

Alan
Yes Thats right I did but that family was from Hook Norton in North Oxfordshire rather than Alvescot in West Oxfordshire.
I don't see a connection but obviously you may do. I have checked the info from Hook Norton and Alvescot PR's in regard to Harriet baptism at Hook Norton and her parents and then again for the marriage in alvescot.
The info is as per the PR's so TWO HAYNES (Spelling variants) families?
CAROLINE Griffiths married Henry Edmonds in 1836 - sorry if I miss typed it. Wits; John EDMONDS & Ann Cockbill
Does this help?

Hi Nigel,
I've done some more searching and have now found the correct census for Harriet Haynes and you're right, with the one who married Thomas Henry Edmonds in 1860 is the d/o William Haynes & Martha.
It seems there were two Harrietts', one in Hailey and the other in Hook Norton both born about
1841.
The "Hailey" Harriet was only 6 months old in the 1841 census so I'll post another thread for her and her parents marriage possibly in Stanton Harcourt which is mentioned in Pallots marriage index..
Once again many thanks for your help.
Alan
