The Operational Record Books are at Kew.  Is it possible to read any serial number or code markings on the aircraft - you might be able to work back from that to the names of crew and work out who Jack might be?

There is a 620 Sqn Association - might be worth approaching them?

By the 22nd January 1946, 620 Squadron were flying Halifax A.VII's.

620 Squadron was disbanded on the 1st September 1946.  It was renumbered as No 113 Squadron.

From 15th January 1946, the Squadron was based in Aqir in Palestine.

The ORB should have this information, if I remember correctly: at least it's been present in ORBs I've looked at. Air Ministry and successors: Operations Record Books, Squadrons. No. 620 SQUADRON. Operations Record Books. Squadron Number: 620. Summary of Events: Y.
