Title: Chris & Carrie Brearley
Post by: Robert Fletcher on Monday 25 November 13 10:35 GMT (UK)
I am looking for the baptism of twin children Carrie & Chris Brearley born 6 June 1903 in Bedford. Parents, Harry Brearley & Caroline Springthorpe. Members of the Moravian Church. I have been advised that the Moravian archive for Bedford is held by the Bedford & Luton Archive.

If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Robert

Are you hoping someone can visit the archives on your behalf?

I see from their website, they charge a small fee for look-ups and have a 2 day turn around.

According to their website at http://www.bedfordshire.gov.uk/CommunityAndLiving/ArchivesAndRecordOffice/FamilyHistory/Non-AnglicanRegisters.aspx they only hold baptisms of the Moravian Church up to 1857

Thank you very much that link gave me as I find this most useful. As a point of interest the United Brethren is the Moravian Church. I've just spoken to the archivist at Church House in London to clarify this position. She is also going to do a search for one of the other churches in Bedford so I'm waiting to hear from her.

It looks as if things might not be as straightforward so it might be better if I make my own way to Bedford, I think I can get a train from Leicester. That way I can be sure of looking through the St Peter's archives unless something turns up from London in the meantime.
