Hi Mabel
Thank you for your reply
John Thomas Dier was my gran's brother. You say "Medical registers have him qualifying in Scotland". Would you be able to tell me how to acces those medical registers?
Regards
Robert

Hi Ian,
I saw this post when my football mad son was trying to see if Eric Dier at Spurs is a relative. Dr. John Dier was my Great Uncle, his Brother Sam was my Grandfather. His sister Olivia mentioned in the posts, Robert, posting stuff here, is her grandson, died just under 3 years ago was the oldest person in Ireland a few weeks short of 110. John has descendants alive and well in The UK, who are in regular contact, one grandson also called John, so you can see it is a common family name. Dr John's brother Richard was killed in WW1, Robert never had children, so Sam was left to carry on the name. His eldest Cecil, was my Dad. My son Paul is the only male at this stage to carry on the name, so you can see, not a great spread on the family tree down the generations.
Hope this has added to your quest for information.
John

Hi John,
Thanks very much for your reply. I remember I met you at your fathers funeral, a few years ago. If I get a chance I’ll drop you a few lines.
All the best
