Any ideas on what the Christian name is of the Lady on attached.
Wedding Witness - Surname looks like GARDNER. Says X Her Mark.
Wedding was 1824 in St Leonard's Shoreditch. The other witness James B HILL is witness on several Marriages.
Thank you

Robina? If she made her mark her name would have been written by the clerk [so you can compare that person's writing for other names in the same register]. The first letter of this forename is the same as the minister in the same entry which looks like Robert Crosby curate.

Hi Josey
Why did I not notice that!
:)
Thank you very much!
I will see what I can find for a Robina Gardner.

Gardner could of course be her married name; may be bride's sister? I'd look for baptisms of a Robina around 1800.
ADDED: There do seem to be quite a few on familysearch.org born in Middlesex 1795 - 1805. What were Mary Ann's parents' names?

Looks like Rebecca to me.

Hello
I have just found a Marriage for a Robina Gardiner to a Alexander William Gray
in Shoreditch 1833.
I thought it looked like Rebecca before but had no luck tracing her. So thought I would try on here.
so looks like the right person
Thank you all for your help / suggestions.

Hello
I have just found a Marriage for a Robina Gardiner to a Alexander William Gray
in Shoreditch 1833.
Do you mean 1933? In view of the fact the marriage she was witnessing was 91 years after 1833 . .. . !
-
Ahhh - have found it and it IS 1833, ( she again makes her mark rather than signing) but the original Chamberlain/Hollins marriage (that she witnessed) was 1824, not 1924!

Just adding my opinion that the Christian name is Rebecca.

Thank you for pointing out the error in the year!!
Easily done!!!!
I am going with Robina as I have tried
Elizabeth Gardner before as I said and had no luck.
Thank you
everyone who looked
