Title: First marriage lookup
Post by: mjgraham on Friday 10 January 14 08:28 GMT (UK)
Hi,

An ancestor of mine, Kemp Bowman, is listed in his 1746 marriage as a widower and I'm trying to find a record of his first marriage. He was living in St Nicholas parish in Bristol in 1734. Any help appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Matthew Graham

Hi Matthew,

Sorry I cannot help with Kemp Bowman's first marriage but I have found information regarding his Burgess status which gives limited details of daughter Martha.  Any help to you?

Hi Elizabeth,

Yes, any information connected to Kemp would be most useful.

I don't know if you have his baptism but from family search Temple Church Bristol (Bishops Transcripts)

Sibling also baptised Temple Church Martha b 23 Oct 1709 bap 28 Apr 1713

Hi Matthew,

I've sent you a PM.

Looks like Shirl has come up trumps with his baptism and it looks as though the name Martha is carried through to a third generation.

Hi, I know it's been quite a while since you posted this message but if you are still actively researching Kemp Bowman, Thomas Northerne, John Bowman or Edward Kemp, please reply. The Bowmans & Kemps are my direct ancestors and I am currently in the process of obtaining copy Wills to discover whether they were connected via marriage to the Northerne family, all from the Bristol area in the 17th and early 18th centuries.
