Title: enhancing photos?

how would i go about enhancing these 2 photos? they were emailed to me from a contact at GR, i have saved them in tiff. format also & we have paint installed.

any tips greatly appreciated, im a complete novice at this.

If possible try to get the sender to re send them with a better resolution, the photos then should be a lot clearer and you will be able to sharpen.

If you do not have anything better than MS paint, I would suggest once the new versions arrive you download a copy of PhotoFiltre (http://www.photofiltre.com/) which is free for personal use and has several useful features for improving photographs.

Also they look like they might be 8bit or less colour depth, so ensure your new copies are full colour ones.  Its much easier to work on 16million colour images, even if they are just black and white

Did you ever get better "editions" of these from ages ago?
