Title: Amelia Alice Wilkins
Post by: brian57 on Wednesday 26 March 14 19:19 GMT (UK)
I'm wondering if anyone has access to Hailsham district marriage registers.
I'm looking to identify the father of Amelia Alice Wilkins who married a Bob Booth in 1929.
Her death is registered in Eastbourne 1995 & shows a d.o.b of 16 Dec 1909 but I can't trace her birth in the records.

I also couldn't find her birth, which would probably be in the first quarter 1910, if her death record is correct.

I wondered if she was born overseas?

She was 20 when she married so it's unlikely she was a widow.

Think you need her marriage cert Brian.

There was an ALICE AMY Wilkins whose birth in the Shoreditch district was registered in the June quarter of 1910?

The 1911 census index suggests the parents of Alice above could be Walter Charles Wilkins of Peckham Rye and Mary Ann Moore of Bethnal Green who married in West Ham in 1907.  She had a sister Marie Dorothy who was a year older if that fits with anything else you know.
(n.b.  A Dorothy A Wilkins also married in Hailsham in 1936)
