Title: Looking for marriage Mahon - Rappold
Post by: jazzyd on Friday 09 May 14 11:12 BST (UK)
Hi I'm looking for a marriage between  Margaret Mahon and  Anthony( or Tony) Rappold. Could be sometime in the 1960's or later. Originally thought to be in or around Perth but wonder if Melbourne is another bet.

James.

Thanks for the reply  the only details I have found are a mention of a Margaret Rappold in the 1977 Electoral rolls in Perth, but I don't even know if this is the same person.  I can't find anything on Tony therefore I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that they were no longer living.

Thank you for the information cupoflife, yes this looks like the Margaret I am looking for. I've taken a copy of the cemeteries entry for my records.

To answer your question Leanne yes I believe Tony might have been a British Child Migrant. The story is that Margaret and Tony met and married in Australia but as I have said I can't find a record of their marriage. I think Margaret came over sometime in the early 60's. The last contact was from the Clontarf Road address which corresponds with the electoral roll record I found but after that there are no details.

Anthony was born in 1944 so I would suggest they married after the limit of available marriage registrations in the States you mention - WA 1965, Vic 1942.

There are only 4 RAPPOLD listings in whitepages for Australia including one for WA.

Very brief death notice for Margaret Rappold, but at least husbands name confirms that this is your Margaret.

Hi James.

Realise this was a long time ago and perhaps you have already found the information you were after. Tony and my grandmother have been partners for 40 years.

He is alive and well and looking forward to celebrating his 80th birthday next month.
