Willy Wyatt s/o Abigail Wyatt died 14 Nov 1890 at 15 Arundell St Glossop.
He was buried Glossop Cemetery aged 2 years 5 months.
Can someone please find a birth registration expected to be 1888?
No reason to expect he was born away from Glossop.

I see his death was registered Hayfield Derbyshire, so could this be his birth?
WILLIAM WYATT
Birth year 1888
Place HAYFIELD
Reference HB/39/018
Register office 395
from Derbyshire Registrars Birth Index. I cant see that birth in Freebmd though.
-
Thank you very much. This looks very much like it.
I had looked Free BMD unsuccessfully.
Is this another registration source?
Any idea why not registered Hayfield?
-
I have found a birth in freebmd for William Wyatt in March quarter of 1889 7b 805 at Hayfield, the record you have would have him born in July, possible that they may have got the months wrong if so he may have been born at the end of year 1888 and he may have been registered in the next year. This happened with my mother who was born the end of December and registered in the Jan of the following year.

Thank you Jolee.I had noticed the entry you suggest but inclined to think Groom may have found it.Seems it will be necessary to buy a copy in order to resolve.
The record of his burial at Glossop 17 Nov 1890 also indicates he was aged 2 years 5 months. This equates to 1888.

Any idea where a copy of the birth registration for Willy Wyatt can be purchased?
-
That information was from Derbyshire Registrars Birth Index which has been transcribed by Derbyshire Family History Society. I presume the original would be at one of the registry offices. I don't know why it isn't on Freebmd though, it should be.
I'm not so sure about that birth now as I've found a William Wyatt born 1888 in the 1901 census

Can someone tell me where I can purchase a copy:
WILLIAM WYATT
Birth year 1888
Place HAYFIELD
Reference HB/39/018
Register office 395
from Derbyshire Registrars Birth Index. I cant see that birth in Freebmd though.
Appears to be a different series of numbers to those usually found Free BMDs.
A copy should resolve.

Hi Lazarus
Did you see my previous post, I'm not sure that this is Willy now, as there is a William Wyatt who appears with his parents in the 1901 census. If you do find a way of ordering it, perhaps you can state you don't want it if the parents are Tom and Alice.
According to an online tree that William's parents were Tom Wyatt and Alice Amelia Waterhouse. He was still alive in 1911.

Hi,
Re post by MargP, this is for DERBY (city) REGISTRATION DISTRICT ONLY, so will not
assist you with regards to a possible birth in HAYFIELD Registration District.

Thank you MargeP,Groom and Spendlove
I am reluctant to waste money unless there is a reasonable chance we are identifying the correct record.
I can't understand why it is not on Free BMD as expected registration at Hayfield.
I am expecting mother to be Abigail and Willy illegitimate.

I am sure if you contacted them, they would put you in the right direction

The strange thing though is that it isn't on Freebmd or anywhere else as far as I can see apart from that Derbyshire site. I wonder if he wasn't actually registered as Willie or William as a first name, but that is what they called him?
The only one around that time is the one quoted earlier.
William Wyatt
Hayfield, Derbyshire

Registered July - September 1893
Could his age on death be wrong - have you seen the certificate or just a transcription?
-
Hello Groom.
His death registration from Hayfield names him Willy and his age is given as two years.
The Glossop Cemetery burial record states that he was aged two years five months.
He is buried with other known family members.Willy must have been a favoured name.
I have now written to the Registrars Office at High Peak hoping for clarification.
Thanks for your contribution.

Thanks MargP
I have now written to them with a general inquiry.
It may take a few days for a reply.

Thank you everyone for trying.
I have checked with both High Peak and DFHS.
They cannot locate a birth record for Willy Wyatt.
I can confirm that the suggestion of Groom was another Wyatt family.

It's very odd isn't it? Given they were so exact about his age at death that means he must have been born May/June 1888, yet there are no births registered then in that name. There is a William Martin Wyatt born June quarter 1888 Burton, but that is over 50 miles from where your Willy Wyatt was expected to have been born. I think he is the William M Wyatt with parents William and Eleanor in 1901, so not yours either.
It looks very much as if Willy wasn't registered. The only other hope might be to try and find the parish records for Glossop where he was buried and see if he was also baptised there.
-
It is certainly very odd.
His assumed mother had numerous apparently illegitimate children between 1875 and 1892.
She died 1900 aged 39 having finally married.
The mind boggles.

Have you found the birth of the other children? Perhaps as they were illegitimate she just didn't bother to register them thinking it would get her into trouble. Obviously with the death she had no choice.
-
I have the birth for all of the other children.Thats why this one is unusual.
In a few cases I have eventually identified the father as named when the child married.
