There are only three people of that name listed on Scotlandspeople as born between 1/1/1790 and 31/12/1810, two in Selkirk, one in Innerleithen near Peebles. The one in Innerleithen appears to have had a sister called Lilias.

If it is Robert Edmond who murdered Mrs Franks and daughter in 1830, there is an account of his execution and previous life, mentions Betty Edmond ,sister and that he was born in Selkirk in 1795.
Paper dated 18 March 1830. a day after his execution.

I don t think he was Roberts and Margarets son after all as several online trees have that Robert Emond dying in Australia much later.

Robert & Margaret's son is a close relation. I have traced him to Australia & seen other trees with his family on. Thank you for all the information. I will follow it up. I have been looking at newspaper reports but had not seen the one that says he was born in Selkirk in 1795. Is beginning to look like a relative of an ancestor but not on the direct line.
