Leonard was born in Chester but grew up in Denbigh and was the only son of Mr & Mrs W R Jones of Denbigh.
Soon after leaving school Leonard joined the office of Messrs Parry Jones & Francis, Solicitors, he subsequently transferred to the Town Clerk’s Dept. He then took up a position in the office of E. Wynne Edwards, Solicitor, of Oswestry and was on course to sit his final legal examinations.
He was in action in France and died of wounds going over the top (this information has been taken from his Obituary in The North Wales Times dated Sept 30th 1916). He is buried in Grave 8, Row J, Plot 2, Guillemont Road Military Cemetery, Combles, France.
