I would start with the Surrey Archives, Google will find them.

There are none listed under Great or Little Bookham. Geale/Jeale is, however, a common name in the area and if you have some first names I can check other parishes.

Negative again, There is an Anthony Geale, mason, in Reigate in the 1664 Heath Tax and a couple of other Anthonys in this area in whom I have an interest. Anthony Jeale of Reigate, blacksmith, left a will in 1628 and Anthony Geale of Buckland, yeoman, left a will in 1692. I have copies if they are of interest.

Thank you for looking. So far my Gales have been in Bookham  around 1640 then LongDitton/Tolworth 1660 onwards.I have a Will for Robert  Geale 1664 in Tolworth and he also appears on the Hearth Tax 1664.After that they are in Walton on Thames,Thames Ditton,Esher into the 18th and 19th.

There is a certain amount of conjecture in the 17th and too a degree in the 18th where registers are missing but I think its pretty accurate.

I would like to see the wills you mention and my e mail is terryigale@aol.com

Hi Terry,

I noticed two burials for James Geale in Fetcham St Mary. One was Nov 23 1646 and the other in Aug 1647. The 2nd being "ye sonne of Widdow Geale".
Fetcham, as you probably know, is next to Bookham.

Cheers.

Also a baptism for John Geale, sonne of James Geale by Ann his wife, Oct 5th 1645.

Hi Emmygee,

Thanks for that information which I was not aware of.

I see that you have research interests of Woolgar and Worsfold.I have two Worsfold brothers marrying two Smallpiece sisters. The sisters being daughters of my gt Aunt Sarah Gale.

My gt grandmother Marion Rose Aldersey Gale married Frederick Woolgar of Esher. This was her third marriage late in life.

Hi Terry,

I haven't come across any Gales or Smallpieces in my FT, maybe they are in a branch that hasn't been explored yet.

Cheers.
