Hi there,
would like to find Margaret Bedford in the 1841 & 1851 census. She was born in 1837 in Bedfordshire. She married John Turney around 1853 in Hertfordshire.
Thank you ;D

First lets get rid of one the "arounds"
Here is the marriage
Jul/Aug/Sp 1853
Berkhampstead
ref 3a 456
John Turney / Margaret Bedford on same page
-
Ha-ha, okay lizdb. Yep, that's their marriage record all right ;D
Does it say who their father's were?
-
That is just the index - you need to purchase the cert of view a PR to see who her father was named as.
In 1861 census she gives her place of birth as Chesham, Bucks. Where did you get Bedfordshire from?
1861
Common Rd, Wigginton, Hertfordshire
John Turney 30 straw plaiter bn Wigginton Herts
Margaret 24 bn Chesham Bucks
Edey 6
George 3
James 1 all children bn Wiggington

I think I got it from ancestry.com? Or familysearch. I will try and give you a link...
-
I see you've now altered your original post to include the info I found - so the thread doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone reading it through now!!!!
-
So, you want me to change it back for you ???
-
So could you find a census for Margaret Bedford in the 1841 & 1851 census?
-
No don't change it back - its of no great importance.
Here she is in 1851
Ashridge Hamlet, Chesham
Kingston Bedford 48 cordwainer bn Chesham
Elizabeth wife 44 bn Scilly? Guernsey?
James 18
MAry ANn 16
Margaret 14
Joseph 12
Sarah 12
Matilda 10
Charlotte 8
John William 5
Jonathan 4
Ruth 3
Will 10 mths all children bn Chesham
You mention using Ancestry - so surely you have census access yourself? Or are you just using the "free" parts?
-
As for 1841, although the age is out for MArgaret, this does look like her and some of her siblings in the Amersham Union Workhouse
James Bedford 9
MAry Ann Bedford 8
Margaret Bedford 6
Joseph Bedford 5
Sarah Bedford 4
Matilda Bedford 2

I used the free option on ancestry.com as I'm not a member...and thank you for finding the census :)
-
Just one more thing...could you find a marriage record for Kingston and Elizabeth?
If you can't don't worry...I've looked, but no luck. Wondered if you'd have any joy of finding it.
-
Cant see anything on Familysearch.
Kingston seems to be in Amersham House of Correction in 1841, though age recorded as 20, so maybe a different one (as that would not be old enough to father the children)
Also an Elizabeth Bedford age 25 in the workhouse.
Getting a birth cert for a child bn after 1837 will give you a maiden name for Elizabeth, which might help locate a marriage.
