Do you have any idea where and or when these deaths occurred? Generally speaking death notices can be found in the estate files at the archives. However there are numerous Johannes Matthys de Beer's at the archives so it is difficult to work out which one could relate to your request.

Posted on behalf of Macolm DE BEER
I have very little information on Johannes Matthys DE BEER * 21 February 1829, except that which I have provided. I have searched the Cape Town Archives and Pretoria Archives with little success.
Gesina and Johannes are mentioned in Death Notice's as been the parents, other than that, no dates of death for either of them have been mentioned in any of the documents. They had eight children, with the birth place of the children varying from Sterkstroom, Jamestown and Burgersdorp. Although some of the children moved to the Transvaal I have no record that Johannes and Gesina left the Eastern Cape, and therefore assume that both died in the Eastern Cape.

They obviously moved around quite a bit. Where and when was their youngest child born?
There is the possibility that they then remained in that town. It will also give an idea as to deaths as they would obviously had to have died after that child was born.

The youngest son was born in 1874 and died 1944. His Death Notice, section were parents name is recorded was not completed , either by the person who filled in the form, or the person who provided the information. His age is given as 69 years 7 months which corresponds with that which I calculated as 69 years 7 months 27 days.
Assuming the father died at 70 years, there is no Death Notice in any of the Archives that could be matched. What I did notice was that in the section were the parents name is normally filled in someone wrote in pencil the following. "Word nog nagespoor" When translated into English it means " It is being tracked". The search continues!
