Thanks. That was my thought. I can't find one in Litcham though.

Hi if you could give us the name of your ancestor and which record the above was from, we may be able to assist?
I see from old photographs of Litcham their was/is a bridge over the River Nar?

Valentine Laws from the 1841 census. I was hoping someone from Litcham might be able to say, but having just googled it has a population of 600, so maybe a bit of a long shot!

So it is near Market Street?
And Drury (?) Square?
-
I used to work in Litcham, have contacted a local lady to ask her. Will let you know when she gets back to me.

My contact doesn't know but will try to find out. There is a tiny 'cottage' museum in the village which may be able to help. They have old photographs too

More Litcham people on the case now so hopeful! Looking at a current google map of Litcham there is a Bridge Cottage just before the Dunham Road where Church Street crosses the Nar (no bridge there now though). Probably just that little stretch of road.
-
Confirmation from a lady whose grandmother lived in Bridge Cottage that Bridge Street was indeed that stretch of road.

Thanks all!
