Title: John Sherwood of Bury
Post by: redbirdie on Wednesday 22 April 15 14:40 BST (UK)
Where is Bury?
I have a copy of a will of John Sherwood of Bury co York clothier 1793
"I give to Mr William Hutchinson and Mr John Moss of Ingleby and brothers Eleazor Sherwood and Samuel Sherwood of Ingleby co York executors of this my last will all my share in trade with William Bentley of Bury"
His mothers maiden name was Bury but I think that is a red herring.
Any ideas?
I am fairly sure the Ingleby is Ingleby Greenhow as that is where the family farmed.

Bury in Lancashire is the main one that springs to mind.
