Hi
Looking for George's birth or bap/mother/death.
All I have is that he was a mariner, his marriage to Mary Elizabeth Petherbridge 1849, Hull and his father is called James.
1851 Hull [Wife Mary] census ref: Piece: 2363; Folio: 484; Page: 1
1861 Hull [Mary] census ref: Piece: 3593; Folio: 123; Page: 35
Probably at sea when the censuses were taken.
By 1871 Mary was a widow.
Many thanks
Geoff

Hi Geoff
Regards the 1849 Marriage:
Was father James THOMAS noted as being deceased?
What was George's address?
Who were the witness'? And do you know who they were?
Did George sign his own name?
Elsewhere on web: found references that state
Marriage took place: 8 Apr 1849, Holy Trinity, Hull.
George THOMAS was 'Full Age"
His father James THOMAS, was a Tanner
In 1861, wife Mary was described as a 'Fisherman's wife'.
The 1864 death in Hull is not him
Cheers

Hi Ambly
Many thanks for looking.
More or less what I have.
The mar. cert. doesn't indicate if either of them signed, nor does it say his father James was deceased.
Witnesses were Henry Petherbridge [could be Mary's father or brother] and Elizabeth Petherbridge, possibly her mother.
I can't make out the addresses on the cert. I've tried going through the current street map without success. They could have been in regeneration areas?
The 1851 census gives Castle Row as the address [also not on the modern list], nothing like the address on the cert.
The 1864 death is a child.
