A couple of days ago, I fell upon a website entitled something like "Research of Margaret E Macculloch and David J Hall" - and was intrigued to find quite a lot of my family there, including some errors.
As a matter of courtesy I thought "Oh, I'll just get in contact and correct that - because I know who the other person they've confused him with is, and if people follow that they will go in the wrong direction..." - but search as I will, I can't seem to find any way to contact them.
Their last updates seem to be last year - and oddly, as far as it concerns my lot, most of it otherwise is fairly correct, I noted, unlike several online trees.
Has anyone any idea who I may be able to contact them?

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~macculloch/
At the bottom of the page are the names 'Margaret & David Hall'.
Click on that and an email to them will open :D
-
I think this is one of their pages? http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~macculloch/master_index.htm
The contact email link at the bottom right doesn't work on all browsers but the code behind it gives some clues as to their email address. Will send you a PM rather than publish it here.

Thanks, I think I'd tried a contact yesterday that didn't contact. I'd appreciate the message.

I click on the link at the bottom of the page I mentioned in reply #1 and an email to them opens immediately.
-
It wouldn't open for me in Chrome. I had a little bit more success with IE when it prompted me to open the "mailto" link in either Chrome or Sea Monkey. I must have a file association glitch I think ( my email client is Outlook ).

Thank you, ShaunJ for your message. I've sent an e-mail to the address you provided, and I'll let you know if I do get any response. Thank you all for your helpfulness.

Sent an e-mail to the address you sent me, ShaunJ, and got a courteous reply back today accepting the correction. Thank you for your help. There's one fewer error out there now.
-
Now there's a rare success.

Does anybody know if the above website is still available, or has it been taken over ?

Hi Brian
I've relocated your post as it was posted on a board that does not allow replies.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Dawn!
I take it you received my message to Moderator ;)
I was confused as to why I couldn't see a 'Reply' option.

Hmmm ... I had it stashed on my favourites, clicked on it, - and instead of the site coming up, as it usually did, I was whirled to Ancestry, as Dawnsh seems to have suggested. Odd, can't recall last time I used it.....
But when I tried to find it on "Ancestry" - I couldn't. Sorry, brian38. The people who compiled it did a pretty good and diligent job, in my opinion.
Sorry, no links to your names, or even that area of the country, so I can't even help you there. Good luck, though.

Hi TY THanks for trying, Isaiah had changed his surname to Lee when he was living in Gainsborough.

Rootsweb Freepages sites were all taken offline a few months ago because of some security issue, but as of the past week, they've started bringing them back - a slow and gradual process.
Site owners are able to request that their sites are brought forward in the queue, which might conceivably be an attempt to weed out old sites that are no longer maintained. However, until a site is restored at Rootsweb, it might be possible to find it at the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/).
During the downtime site addresses have been redirected to a holding page, which has also changed in the past few days. The new one seems to make it a bit more obvious that Rootsweb is part of Ancestry, which has been the case for some years now.

I have a similar problem trying to get in touch with someone on Ancestry who has my ancestors in his tree...I can't 'talk' to him because I don't have a subscription. His user name doesn't help either.
