I don't think there is a 2015 version yet.
The 2014 version is offered on the the Family Tree Maker website here (http://www.ancestry.com/cs/apps/P-5194), and it shows the system requirements:
Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) or Windows 8 (32-bit or 64-bit)
Hard disk space: 675 MB for installation
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Display 1024 x 768 resolution
DVD Drive
Internet connection required
This means it probably won't work as well on Windows Vista.
A lot of programs work with Windows Vista and most should import GEDCOMs. I like RootsMagic, and it says it's compatible with Vista. You can try out the free version, RootsMagic Essentials.

Looking at the Ancestry Message boards it doesn't look as if there will be a FTM 2015 but the next one FTM 2016 will probably wont be released until at least late Spring. Where did you see one for 2015?

I have the FTM 2014 upgrade in CD format. On the packaging it says that it works with Windows XP(service pack 3), Vista (service pack 1), Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Perhaps you could query the compatibility with the suppliers before purchase - if you want to proceed with this one (FTM that is). I got it from Avanquest; can't remember how much it cost.
But - I believe it is not compatible with Windows 10, if you decide to upgrade from Vista to Win.10

If you are talking about FTM2014 Mogwood, I use it on Windows10 with no problems. I installed it from disc onto my computer when it was Windows 8 and then Windows8.1. Then I upgraded the FTM2014 via a download and it was fine when I then changed to Windows10.

Thanks for that info Groom, it's good to know. I'm sure I read somewhere, I think it was the FTM forum on Ancestry, but might have been somewhere else, that it wasn't compatible. I shall have to re-check my info :).

I have all versions from FTM2005 to FTM2014 running perfectly on Vista. There is a slight issue with the earlier versions but there is a fix at http://tinyurl.com/m5dk7fg.

sorry, I think 2015 was a typo...
I meant 2014 and it looks from all of your help that it should be OK on vista..
thanks very much - put it on my Santa list

I guess by now everyone knows that FTM has been scrapped. They say it will be supported through 2016 but sales stop Dec 31 2015. Anyone have any ideas of programs to migrate to? If your computer goes down and you don't have the discs ( you bought the downloaded version ) it appears that you will be out of luck as far as restoring it. Not sure what's happening with the sync to Ancestry? For now I think it should keep working. Does anyone know for how long?
