Robert KIRKUP married Elizabeth BENNETT in 1851 at Ferry Fryston Yorks.
In the 1861 Census they are at Abinger St Newcastle where he gives his birthplace as Bamburgh (c1824). They had three children that I know of: Ann (1852), Sarah Elizabeth (1855) and Margaret(1859).
I would be most interested if anyone can give any further details of this family. Robert's father is named as James on his marriage certificate. ???

Can you be a little more specific as to the info your looking for , is it earlier census and parish records or later census's

I'd like to find reference to Robert in 1851/41 which would hopefully give more information on his family of which I know so little. He became a blacksmith so may well have been apprenticed or a journeyman.
It would also be interesting to know what happened to the girls in due time.
Cheers

I could kick myself! I was up in Bamburgh yesterday and took some photos of the church yard there, If only i had seen this msg before i went i would have looked for KIRKHAMS.
A friend of mine is staying in a cottage in the next village to Bamburgh, i will ask her to have a gander around the church yard to see if there are any Kirkum graves, although i can't promise anything yet.

Hi Fitty
Thanks for your message. Do I take it from your reply that I should also be looking at Kirkhams as well as Kirkups? This hadn't entered my head. ???
