Hi,
I am having difficulty tracing this George Brewers baptism. I did find one, I think in 1781 which gave William as Father. I am not convinced this is correct as other children of this William were baptised within a year of being born.
So if any one has access to the Yarmouth baptisms I would be delighted to know if there is an entry for George shown in 1775.
Many Thanks Simon

Bit of a discrepancy in his birthyear
1841 image clearly shows him as age 55 occ yeastman wife Mary also 55 but 1851 image as 76 occ carter - widower
Same family as children match on both entries
Think he died in 1854 but no age on freebmd entry for age comparison

Hi Carole,
That's the man! I take the 1841 year of birth with a pinch of salt, as ages were rounded up or down for grown ups. I am working on the age of George shown in 1851 ie 1775. I thought I was a winner with George baptised Gt Yarmouth 1781 son of William and Elizabeth but however two of the children were born after 1775 but baptised before 1781. This means to me that the 1781 baptism is not my George.
Any thoughts welcome. Simon

Good old Family Search - he is the 1854 death and birthyear confirmed as 1775 ;D

Nothing matching on FS to Yarmouth - this is the only one in a rough age range

Unless any local transcriptions exist - I'm afraid it's the long trawl through available records
Go to https://familysearch.org/search/
Scroll down to where it says Find A Collection and input Norfolk - click on Browse all collections

Hi
The Norfolk Transcription Archive shows William Brewer and Elizth Scarlet married in Gt Yarmouth 1765 and the following children baptised
1766 John
1768 Mary
1773 Samuel
1781 George
http://www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/surnames.php?doc_type=150&surname=BREWER
It doesn't show any children baptised between 1773 and 1781
Edit:- Forget the above, just found other children on FreeReg :-[
Thomas Flemming Brewer 1 Dec 1776
Sarah 3 May 1779

Check out the probate record at http://www.norfolksources.norfolk.gov.uk/DserveNS/
click on the probate button then search for Brewer
then look at items 8 and 9
Probate of John Brewer dated 1825
these seem to suggest that he had sons John, William and George

Thankyou Carole & Yokel,
It does look then that although George from the Census was born in 1779 he was likely the George baptised in 1781 after all. Still think its odd he made himself 2 years older but he did name a son Samuel and daughter Sarah. Also another daughter Elizabeth same as what we now think his mothers name was.
I have gone through the Bishops Transcripts page by page for 1779 and there are no Brewers there apart from Sarah.
I looked at 8 & 9 and see ref to John Brewer but can not see other names. Arent we thinking that George's father was William?

If you click on the 8 and 9 this will open up a thumbnail of the probate record, then click on the thumbnail and you will be able to read it.
9 mentions George
These could show that Georges father was a John Brewer.
