Title: Looking for Philip Butler
Post by: salsalass on Thursday 10 March 16 13:08 GMT (UK)
Hi everyone,
I am trying to find the parents and siblings of Phillip Butler born about 1800, believed to of lived in the Kilkenny area.
I have had help from a previous post by some very kind people with census and marriage records.
All the info I have is from when he came to live in England where he married Catherine Durkin in Middlesex on  19 January 1820.  He and his family then went to live in Bangor North Wales both Phillip and his son Micheal who were stone masons worked building the Menai bridge
I have lots of info after that date but am hitting a brick wall on the Irish connection from his birth backwards to parents etc.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Hi,
I have records for Philip Butler, Stonemason, in St. Pancras workhouse 1961, showing his age as 61 and 62.  There is also a death record from the workhouse.  I have been searching for Philip Butler married to Catherine Durkin (Derkin) records because his son, also Philip Butler, and a stone mason married Esther Ann Tennant Francis and came to Australia. Not sure if this is the right one but he did live in that area.

Hi Susan 300.
First of all thank you for getting in touch with me.

I think the information you have is for my family. Philip Butler was a stone mason and they did live in St Pancras,
There was a son called Philp who went to Australia in 1853. he was married to a lady called Ester Frances, I have been told he had 8 children.

I have Philip and Katherine as having 5 children
Michael, Philip, Matilda, John and Elizabeth.

Stone masonry runs in the family as my husbands Grt grandfather Michael was a stone mason and I think his father John was also a stone mason.
The ended up living in Bangor North Wales and work building the  Menai bridge.

We were told that Philip Butler originally came from Ireland but have yet to find this info to be true.

I would love for you to let me have the info you have just told me about if you would be so kind as to share.

Thank you once again for getting in touch

Pat
