Hello - trying to find the death of my gt, gt grandmother Elizabeth Elson (nee Beard). Born c 1802 Tamworth. Married 1.10.1839 in St. Giles Whittington to Joseph Elson.
1841, 1851, 1861 census all show her in Whittington.
1867 her husband died.
1871 she is a visitor, with an Innkeeper at St. Michael Lichfield.
1881 she is with her son Joseph and his family at 29 Mount Pleasant, Rushall, Staffs.
By 1883 Joseph and his family are in Coventry.
Thought I had found her death OND 1889 Lichfield 6b 262 as age etc seemed to fit but when the certificate arrived it is for the widow of a Thomas Elson.
Been looking ever since in Whittington, Lichfield, Walsall, Coventry areas all to no avail. Would welcome some fresh eyes looking at this please. Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Sue

Who was the informant of the death?
Perhaps, if it was someone who didn't know her too well, they thought her husband was Thomas :-\
What was the address on the death certificate?

Hi
Burial at St Chad Lichfield 20 Nov 1889
Elizabeth Elson aged 87. Abode: TAMWORTH STREET

Hello - on the certificate:
date: 15.11.1889 Tamworth Street, Lichfield. Widow of Thomas Elson (deceased). Informant: the mark of Ann Wilson, niece, present at death.
Have not come across a Thomas Elson yet or an Ann Wilson - checked Elizabeth's family and can't see a marriage to a Wilson. Of course I will do more digging!
Thanks.

Forgot to say Elizabeth's husband Joseph Elson is buried at St. Giles Whittington.
Thanks.

1891 2212/38/10
Anne Wilson 59 yrs widow b Shenstone is at 35 Tamworth Street.
She has a sister Elizabeth 55 yrs ??? Born Birmingham
The surname could be Beard - yes, sure of it so there may well be a connection.

In 1851 Ann Beard is living with Joseph and Elizabeth Elson in Whittington. She is a niece.

Thanks for this. Followed through story of Ann Beard, niece. Her father was Joseph Beard brother to Elizabeth. He seems to have been in lots of trouble (Criminal Registers, Prison Hulk registers) which might account for why Ann is with her aunt. Found a marriage for an Ann Beard to a Charles Wilson as well so I am thinking the death certificate is right but husband's name is wrong. She did die 22 years after her husband and Ann's grandfather was Thomas so maybe Ann just got the names mixed up.
Thanks for all help.
