Title: I cannot use the chat or private messages

Why can I not use them? I have followed the instructions on the help page to joining them.

You are not able to use the PM system until you have made 3 posts - 2 replies to this will do it!

Don't know about the Chat, maybe that has the same criteria.

Hi

Welcome to RootsChat

New members must make 2 posts before they can use the personal message system and I think the same applies to the chat room

Hi and welcome to Rootschat...you need to have posted three messages for use to use these facilities.
Sorry Sandra....posts crossed....some say two posts and others say three  ???

Welcome to Rootschat,

If you have found a thread that you're interested in,the best thing to do is to reply on that thread and strike up a conversation and then if you find you have relatives in common,then you will meet the criteria for Personal Messaging.

Is there a reason why this system is in place? I'm writing here to get my posts up too so I can pm a family member I have just found

It should be noted that posting on this thread will not count. You need to post on a board designated for queries.

Most folk reply on the topic and wait for a response, you need to keep in mind that folk can be in all parts of the world so you may need to be a little more patient to receive a reply.
