I think it was 1881, wasn't it?

In the workhouse, there are the following:

Edward Lewis, 16
Richard Lewis, 14
William Lewis, 12
Sarah Lewis, 10
John Lewis, 7

all born Wolverhampton.

Still wondering what the girl's name can have been. Probably not Lincrea, anyway!

The best match for a Sarah Lewis b. 1856 Wolverhampton seems to be this one:

RG12/2236
Folio 157 p. 18
Wolverhampton Union Workhouse

Sarah Lewis, pauper, married, 36, Publican, b. Staffs Wolverhampton

Don't know how likely she is given her occupation, but thought I'd just throw it in.

In 1919 when edward lewis maries again, he said, my deceased father was a "barman"
this is interesting, seeing, that a sarah lewis in the right town, being a publican.

Many thanks to all who have responded to This request made on my behalf I have gained so much more information in the last 24 hours than I have done for weeks I started on my "Family tree" a few months ago but couldn't find out how/why my grandfather came to be in Aberdeen when I couldn't find a birth Cert for him [Mind you am still none the wiser on this] but at last may have found his family in Englandand this will give me a good starting ground again
Many thanks
Jean

Can anyone find anything on my grand fathers siblings???
