Title: Request For Look-Up - 1910 Marriage Certificate
Post by: q98 on Wednesday 13 July 16 01:58 BST (UK)
On 12 Sept 1910 at Wesleyan Church, Heilbron, OFS, Archibald WORKMAN (b. circa 1885, Scotland) married Annie Murray McEWAN (b. Unknown). Assuming Annie was Scottish-born, searches of Scotland'sPeople website result in many, many McEWANs. Without additional data, further searches are cost prohibitive.

I hold other data relating to Archibald's death in Jan 1914 at Heilbron. In wishing to establish the date & place of Annie's birth, and/or parents' names, I hope these details were recorded on their Marriage Certificate and would be extremely grateful for a look-up on my behalf.

q98 if you are prepared to spend money then you can get a copy of the marriage certificate at the Cory Library in the Cape. Here is there email address - cory@ru.ca.za.
You will find the email address on the following link as well.

http://www.ru.ac.za/corylibrary/collections/methodistchurcharchives/

To get the marriage record you send them a email requesting a copy giving as much detail as possible about the couple.
Only thing it will cost you R220.00  for one copy.

Thank you once more Karytay. At A$20, that's not excessively expensive. However, I may query what data is recorded before making my decision.

One further enquiry Karytay.  I note your link points to the Methodist persuasion while my relative was married in the Wesleyan Church.  As I have never taken any interest in religion, I have to ask if there is a difference?

Pardon my ignorance.

Hi again Karytay
I have tried several times to email but always receive the following:
QUOTE
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
cory@ru.ca.za
Technical details of permanent failure:
DNS Error: 24583101 DNS type 'mx' lookup of ru.ca.za responded with code NXDOMAIN
Domain name not found: ru.ca.za
UNQUOTE

I will have to find another method of communication; perhaps directly through the university.
