Hello again  :)

In Lincoln library they have those books that show address of folk over the years ,

having a senior moment and cannot think what they are called  ::)

my question is , I also cannot remember which years during the 2nd World war that they were not

collected ,  anyone know .

I've seen them, most of the names are of men though.  I think they're the equivalent of modern electoral rolls but like you I can't remember their real name.

I am going to go on Friday, but thought it would be a wasted journey if the year I am looking for

is one of the War time ones.  :)

Not sure what you are looking for exactly,   but that may   help you.

Secondly.   Archive copies of telephone directory.

yes I have what I need from the 1939 register , it is about 1943/44 that I would like  :)

but I thing I will be out of luck because of the War.  ::)

They are colloquially known as electoral registers but they are officially the Register of Electors.

They weren't compiled between 1939 and 1945

If you want to see the date ranges of the constituencies, the British Library has published their catalogue of holdings so you can see the period of existence and what they hold. If the period of existence is earlier than their holdings then you need to check locally to see if local archives hold them. Some registers have failed to survive.
