Does anyone know if it's possible to show two children baptised the same day and born the same year to the same parents are twins on Ancestry.com family tree? I've searched their Help section but couldn't find anything...
-
Absolutely!
I have 4 successive generations of twins in my tree - just add the children and note all their dates the same as the other.
I am the 2nd generation of the 4 ;D
Just take note, however, that just because they were baptised the same day, doesn't mean that they were born on the same day?
Sometimes, parents baptised their children in "batches"?!

Give the names and year and I will see if I can see them.

I put both children in on the 3 sets of twins I've found so far, I did annotate each child that they were a twin of and name the other child. This means anyone looking at my tree would be aware I hadn't made a mistake and put a wrong date on 1 of the children as well as I can see straight away what the situation is.

Thanks everyone for suggestions.
Names: Grace Horler & Susannah Horler Baptised 7 May 1837 Mells, Somerset, England
Parents: Thomas Horler & Susannah Boddie
Other children born: 1824, 1826, 1829, 1832, 1834, 1837x2, 1839, 1842, 1844, 1846
medpat - how did you "annotate each child that they were a twin with the name of the other child"?
-
I suspect making their first names say 'John [twin of Thomas]' & 'Thomas [twin of John]' :-\

Hi I have found the actual Parish book.
Grace is first then her twin. (That's my birthday but not the year)
If you would like the book pages please say and I will get them for you.

Sometimes, parents baptised their children in "batches"
Found that on my tree, two or three siblings who I had established as being different ages from the census all turn up with the same baptismal date.
-
Renatha I annotate on the page where the facts are
Go to the facts page and on the left above the chronological order of events in the person's life is a box with +add hit that and a list drops down, hit birth and I put in the date and area and in the description part I put in - twin of (and the other twins name)
It's simple so whenever you are on the page you will see this
e.g one set of my twins, this is Joseph's page
Birth
1876 • Stourbridge, Worcestershire, England

I did something similar with the three sets of real twins that I found. First I spent ages trying to "prove" they weren't twins - for some reason that seemed so improbable. I'd never thought we had any twins until those popped up on one line over two generations.

Thanks everyone... Also Maggsie for showing Parish Book records and medpat for instructions for annotations. Easy when you know how! :D
-
It gets worse....My wife's father and his sister married another sister and brother! It don't half get messy on here!
