Does his death certificate give any details of parents? If he became a Canadian citizen then there may be paperwork giving information on him before he arrived.
When and where did he marry Marie Sauer- in Russia? Canada?
Where did you get birthplace as "Kinoteatr ŤOdessať, Moscow, gorod Moskva, Moscow, Russia"?
Not much detail on headstone-

Son Christopher (1907-1973) had a wife called Lydia-

Many more Schmidts buried in same place

Online family tree gives same strange wording for birthplace- is this your tree or the source of your details?

According to online searches 'kinoteatr' is Crimean Tatar for cinema or movie house-
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/kinoteatr
1921 Canadian census gives Simon's birthplace as Odessa/Russia & Marie born Roumania, eldest 2 children born U.S. and foreign born family members to Canada 1909.

Also ordinary Russian but now shortened to Kino
So looks to me as the "Odessa" Cinema, Moscow (Moskva is Russian for Moscow)
Gorod means city as opposed to oblast = region

yes that geni family tree is mine. the only thing I can find online is the 1921 census for alberta. I think they were married in 1907, but i'm not sure where. The first two sons were born in Butte, North Dakota in about 1909, and they came to Canada in 1910.

Recently stumbled upon info tells me that he had a brother named Christ in Canada; a sister in Tacoma WA named Jacobina Lindenborn-Brehan, find-a-grave lists her as Jacobina Schmidt-Brehan; a John Schmidt from ND, and a Mike from Wisconsin. Apparently their mother was named Elizabeth Leschner, who died in Jacobina's home in WA according to old letters. But I cant seem to find any info on her, unless she went by the nickname Eva. I hope this helps for finding more info. TIA.
